GoogleがついにOSに進出した。しかも、MacOS Xをウェブ上で提供するという。
"The world's best web applicatoin provider" Google and "best local application vender" Apple are going to launch GoogleOS with Mac OS technology. According to the Wstreet Journal (WJ), Google CEO Eric Schmidt who is also Apple's executive management said "We have a plan to create GoogleOS on the web by Apple's OS X technology. You know, OS X is the best useful OS in the world now, and it is still the best after Vista launched. Steve Jobs and I had been talking about the future of the web since a few years ago. And We have a strong will to change the Internet today."
というのは、もちろん冗談で、エイプリルフールのジョークです。
GoogleのCEOであるEric ShmidtがAppleの取締役も兼ねていることは広く知られており、数多くの協業を検討していると公言しています。Vistaがいまひとつ伸び悩む中、千載一遇のチャンスとして、AppleがついにOSを外部提供しシェアを一気に取り返そうとする可能性もあるのではないでしょうか。それは他メーカーへのライセンスではなく、ウェブOSとして。
なんてことがあったら本当に大きな革命が起きそうですね。
